At the time, I was too pumped up on adrenaline to realize how bad it was. I’d already taken a skate to the crotch back in November, I figured a little knee pain wouldn’t stop me. So after the initial pain subsided a bit, I realized the were going to do one of my favorite drills. I put my gear back on and went back out to skate.
At the beginning of 2018, roller derby was on my mind most of the time. When I wasn’t helping with team fundraisers or hanging out with the girls, I was watching an endless number of youtube videos, researching skates, wheels, bearings, and gear.
My dedication to the team, to learning to skate, and all there was to learn about roller derby had grown exponentially since that first practice where I was talked into giving it a try.
